Engagement and Wedding Rings
When we asked Mr Kosta Andrejevic, an eminent goldsmith from Belgrade, to advise future brides and grooms on the choice of wedding and engagement rings, he kindly answered:
“Taste is a very delicate and individual matter and everyone should choose whatever they like. That is why our collections contain approximately 2000 ring models.
. Therefore, I’d rather concentrate on giving some practical advice. Fashion trends exposed to constant alterations are also important factors. You should not be afraid as far as your choice of gold color is concerned. At the moment, white gold is back in fashion again. But, it does not mean that yellow gold and its combination with white gold are inadequate, because various pieces of jewellery are bought and combined in life. The fact that engagement rings are worn for many years should not be forgotten. All other pieces of jewellery are replaceable, but engagement and wedding rings are always there - on your fingers. Therefore, they have to be made with great skill - not too thin, not too thick, suitable for wearing and long-lasting. Their design can be modern or classical, but always romantic, so that you could wear them with love all your life. Choosing an engagement ring with a gemstone is also a matter of taste. Diamond (brilliant) has been quite popular throughout the world, as a synonym for eternity, but its high price has forced people around here to satisfy themselves with its best replacement - circonia. Colored stones are acceptable as far as they are not too fragile. It can be sapphire, ruby, tourmaline, etc. Pearls should be avoided because of their delicacy. I’ll also give you a secret. My 25-year-long experience, together with 60 years of my father’s experience, has taught me that a customer selecting an engagement ring usually touches first the ring which proves to be the right one.
- The newlywed couples will reach a mutual decision regarding their wedding rings’ design, but they should also pay attention to the quality of rings and make sure that they match with other pieces of jewellery, that they are suitable and possible to undergo size changes later on. The price is not such a big problem. Wedding rings actually represent the smallest part of wedding costs, although they are worn throughout a lifetime. They symbolize mutual life and oaths. Select those which you are going to wear with greatest pleasure!..
